Attic, Cathedral, and Flat Roof Insulation

You can access LiveSmart BC grants for your insulation upgrades. Increasing your insulation not only helps keep your home warm in winter, but also helps keep your home cool in the summer.

Attic insulation can be installed by a contractor or you can do it yourself. There are many different types of insulation available, and the best choice depends on several factors, including the space available, the ease of access and installation, and cost. To learn more about choosing the best insulation for your home, visit Natural Resources Canada's Insulation page.

LiveSmart BC grants are calculated based on the existing R-value and the improved R-value in your attic after you add insulation. An R-value is the unit used to describe thermal resistance, or insulating property. The higher the R-Value, the more insulated your house is from energy loss. (RSI is the metric equivalent of R-values.)

Grants are also available for basement, crawlspace and wall insulation.
