EnerGuide Rating System Benefits for Home Buyers

Estimate and Compare Energy Use Before You Buy
The EnerGuide rating label provides an indication of how much energy a home will use each year. You can use this information to determine how much you can expect to spend to operate the home, and to compare the operating costs of different homes.

Custom Energy Efficiency Upgrade Options
When your builder uses the EnerGuide Rating Service, they will work with a Certified Energy Advisor to find cost-effective upgrades that reduce energy use and save you money.

Energy Efficiency Rating
EnerGuide rated homes are built by registered and licensed builders and inspected by independent, third-party Energy Advisors. Random quality assurance testing is also conducted on EnerGuide rated homes.

Increased Marketability for Resale
If you sell your home, you can show your home to be efficient, with an EnerGuide rating. Research in Washington State has shown that certified energy efficient homes retain their value during economic slowdowns and sell quicker than non-certified homes.

To get started, ask your builder if they are licensed to promote the EnerGuide rating system, or contact us at 1-866-381-9995 or newhomes[AT]citygreen.ca for more information.
