Gas Water Heater

You can access LiveSmart BC grants for gas water heaters. Water heating is the second-largest energy user in the average home. Choosing an efficient heater and conserving hot water can save you money!

The term condensing means that the heat of the flue gases (vapour) are recaptured through condensation, rather than being vented, so less heat leaves the tank than in older, non-condensing hot water tanks.

An instantaneous water heater (also called tankless, or on-demand) only heats water when you need it, rather than keeping hot water ready in a tank. Ask your Certified Energy Advisor and your hot water system installer which system would be best for your household's water use preferences.
