The LiveSmart BC Efficiency Incentive Program rides again. Homeowners across the Province once again have access to thousands of dollars in provincial grants for energy efficiency improvements to their homes.

“Grants programs like LiveSmart BC help people invest in the energy efficiency of their homes – which increases home comfort, reduces energy bills, improves home re-sale value, stimulates local job creation and is good for the environment,” says Peter Sundberg, Executive Director of City Green Solutions.

Today’s announcement builds off the success of the first round of the LiveSmart BC program, which reached 40,000 homes in only 15 months, demonstrating the overwhelming interest of British Columbians to take action on climate change through practical home energy efficiency upgrades.

Homeowners wishing to access grants must contact a Certified Energy Advisor for a home energy assessment before beginning upgrades. Advisors conduct an on-site home energy assessment, provide an energy efficiency report and come back once the upgrades are completed to apply for grants on the homeowner’s behalf. Grants for the new LiveSmart BC program are provided by the Provincial Government, BC Hydro, Terasen Gas and Fortis BC.

“Through this program, homeowners will access grants for high efficiency heating systems, Energy Star windows and doors, insulation, air sealing and more,” says Sundberg, “But, more importantly, homeowners will also receive a customized retrofit plan from a knowledgeable Energy Advisor so they know the best place to invest their home energy retrofit dollars.”
