Heat Pump Sizing Pilot

2024 - Present

City Green is currently administering the Heat Pump Sizing Pilot in partnership with Green Communities Canada and BC Hydro. The pilot supports homeowners and contractors with heat pump sizing and system design, by providing enhanced EnerGuide home evaluation services.

Participants of the pilot can receive:

A $150 discount on the cost of a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation
A $250 discount on the cost of a post-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation
A free Air Source Heat Pump Service Report, which includes:
- Heat load calculations
- Electrical panel assessment
- Duct flow assessment

By participating in the pilot, homeowners can make informed decisions about the heat pump system they choose to have installed, by gaining a better understanding of their home’s heating and electrical capacity.

How to Participate:

Schedule a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation with a participating Energy Advisor. Tell them you are interested in participating in the Heat Pump Sizing Pilot.
Receive your Air Source Heat Pump Service Report and present the report to your selected heat pump installer.
- Note, we recommend collecting at least 3 quotes
Install your heat pump and other planned upgrades.
- If you plan to access rebates for your upgrades, be sure your contractor and upgrades meet applicable program requirements prior to installation
Complete a post-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation by June 30, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements:

You must be the legal homeowner of the home and be planning to install a heat pump.
The home must be a single family detached, row home or town home, duplex or triplex, or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
The home must be primarily heated with one of the following heating systems:
1. Electric forced-air furnace
2. Natural gas forced-air furnace
3. Oil forced-air furnace
4. Propane forced-air furnace
You must provide 1 year of electrical utility data prior to completing your upgrades for analysis
